Roberto Mighty is a filmmaker, educator, and multimedia artist. His projects are seen in film festivals, public television shows, online and museums. He created "World’s Greatest Cemeteries" after becoming America’s first artist-in-residence at a National Historic Landmark cemetery. That project underscored how the richness of diversity is missing from commonly taught history.

EDUCATOR
Roberto taught documentary filmmaking, cinematography and video editing at Emerson College and Boston University for several years and is now devoting himself full-time to creative projects.
RECENT PROJECTS
“Legacy of Love” is Roberto’s historical documentary about the meeting, romance and radicalization of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King. Since 2020, it has aired seasonally on PBS TV stations and Streaming nationwide. Watch for it on PBS’ WORLD Channel in January and February!
Roberto’s two new public television series — “World’s Greatest Cemeteries” and “getting dot OLDER” — are distributed by American Public Television, with presenting station Northern California Public Media.
During the Covid pandemic, Roberto was asked by Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital to produce their online Coronavirus Training Video series for doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. Roberto assembled a production team and worked around the clock for a month to complete that project, which is now training medical staff from around the world.
Roberto’s interactive exhibitions and artist talks take place online, in museums, colleges, galleries, community organizations and visitor centers. For over twelve years, he was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College; an Instructor at Boston University, and privately teaches cinematography and digital video editing workshops, seminars and master classes. Roberto received his Master of Fine Arts in the Visual Arts from Lesley University's Art Institute of Boston in 2011 and his undergraduate degree in History from Boston University.

Roberto was a Fellow at the Center for Independent Documentary/Kopkind Seminar and Retreat, Vermont, 2014; Producer/Mentor - National Black Programming Consortium New Media Institute, Washington DC 2008/ 2009; and a Fellow at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers - Latino Producers Academy, Santa Fe, NM 2008.
Roberto lives and works in his loft studio in Boston’s Fort Point Channel arts district; is a Resident Artist at Midway Artist Studios; a City of Boston Certified Artist, and Founder of the New England Media Coalition.
Previous Exhibits and Installations
For 2017-2018, Roberto was appointed to write and direct four new original films on poetry by Robert Pinsky, United States Poet Laureate, for the Favorite Poem Project, archived at the United States Library of Congress.
In July, 2014, Roberto premiered a multimedia piece, "Wind, Sand & Stars", based on the prose of French author Antoine de Saint-Exúpery (author of “The Little Prince”) in a group show at the Truro Art Center Gallery at Castle Hill in Truro, Massachusetts.
In Fall, 2013, Roberto completed four online videofilms on the plight of the Eastern Hemlock tree species, Tsuga canadensis. In early 2013, Roberto’s film about ecology, “Cloud Lightning”, premiered at the National Science Foundation headquarters in Reston, VA.
In 2011-2012, Roberto was Artist-in-Residence at Harvard Forest. His multimedia installation at Harvard’s Fisher Museum, “First Contact: Puritans, Native Americans and the Clash Over Land in 1630” successfully brought together members of the indigenous, academic and arts communities..
Roberto spent all of 2010 imaging trees using four types of cameras in a single American city. His subsequent multimedia exhibit, “Trees of My City”, premiered at The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University in January - March, 2011, and was on exhibit at the Scandinavian Cultural Center in Newton, Massachusetts, from September through December, 2013.
Prior to 2010, Roberto had a multifaceted career, including online video production; television producing; directing bestselling audiobooks; writing and engineering radio commercials; and music writing/producing. He worked with ABC/Hearst Affiliate television; HarperCollins, Random House and Houghton-Mifflin; Harvard University, MIT, Berklee College of Music; several brands, NGO's, government agencies, and many nonprofits.
